Domino’s Pizza To Takeover Europe
Australian based, publicly listed pizza franchise, Domino’s Pizza plans aggressive attack on the billion dollar European pizza delivery market in 2010.
With the planned takeover of a Belgium based pizza chain, Pizza Company – which includes 15 stores in Belgium, Domino’s will take it’s Belgian store count to 31. These stores, plus the 150 further stores that it has throughout France, Belgium and the Netherlands, put’s the Australian franchise in place to be number 1 pizza delivery company – by number of store fronts, in Belgium.
Due to the recession and freezing temperatures keeping people at home, rivals have been seeing a 10% increase in business – due to the ease of online ordering.
Domino’s CEO Don Meij said that ‘”Our strategy is for organic growth, but we will always consider quality businesses if they are presented to us,”
Aiming to be a national brand in Belgium, Dominos is set to open more than 50 new stores in 2010.
The major competition comes from rival Pizza Hut and other fast-food franchises which has seen good growth over the past year.
